3 You might choose the tree :  To suit the site e.g. pH, drainage, compaction, climate,exposure  Because of its looks –  Shape - form e.g.. Weeping  Texture  Colour – of foliage, bark,seasonal colour or changes  Size of tree – future size, spread

4 You might choose the tree :  As a particular cultivar for shape or colour  For timber?  Tolerance e.g. to salt, shade  Because it is less susceptible to disease or insect/mammal attack  Because it is native  For special site requirements e.g reclamation or urban developments
