9 Genesee Promise Plus Program (GPP) History and Purpose  2008 GCC created GPP for seniors during the summer after their senior year  Gave any student in the GLOW region the opportunity to attend college regardless of economic standing  Tuition and fees for 1 to 2 courses covered by GCC’s scholarship program  Gave students the opportunity to complete developmental classes prior to college enrollment  Gave students the confidence to succeed at a college level

10 Benefits of GPP to the College  Fit the mission with open access for all students  Increased summer enrollment  Increase in revenue  Fabulous marketing opportunity – FREE classes at the College  Increased the number of dual enrollment students  Created “good will” in the community

11 Genesee Promise Plus Program (GPP) Students Served: Graduating High School Seniors Eligible for 2 classes High School Juniors added in 2010 Eligible for 1 class Adults without Previous College Credit added in 2013 Eligible for 1 class GCC offered placement testing in the local high schools to determine placement.

22 What are students saying? “It provided a smooth transition from homeschooling into college.” “Taking my summer English 101 course helped me stay on track with my education so I didn't fall behind in my course of study.” “The GPP program gave me the feeling of maturity and independence which encouraged me to follow through with my college education.” “I had always imagined getting a college degree. With GPP, I was able to get the degree a semester faster.”

23 Lessons Learned  Advisement: Planning summer vacation and work.  Advisement: “F” would follow them at a college level.  Minimize work for high school counselors and personnel.  For adults; eligible if NO prior college.  At first, online learning options were not available – added in 2013.  At first, only the second summer term was available- first term was added in 2013.
