8 National Geospatial Advisory Committee IFTN High-Resolution Strategy Recommendation: Eliminate Federal funding for 6-inch imagery; offer as buy-up option of 1-foot component  Approved by FGDC Steering Committee Executive Committee Guidance  Develop process to retain flexibility to meet evolving needs and avoid acquiring data by default  Develop process and initial criteria for prioritizing Federal requirements for high-resolution imagery  Define approach that includes a cyclical component and may also reserve some funding for annual decision making Processes will be useful at any level of funding and can improve coordination of high-resolution data acquisition for existing funding

9 National Geospatial Advisory Committee IFTN Governance – Preliminary Concepts Establish an IFTN governance body of representatives of agencies to authoritatively report requirements and specific justifications Ensure an open and transparent process  Align Federal and Non-Federal priorities  Incorporate FGDC 50 States/Imagery plans Annual priorities presented for approval by governance body to ExCom National Digital Orthophoto Program (NDOP) is modifying its charter to become FGDC sub-committee and serve as IFTN governance mechanism

10 National Geospatial Advisory Committee IFTN - Next Steps Continue refining high-resolution and governance strategies Present contracting and hosting and archiving strategies to Executive Committee for review and guidance Work with incoming executives Revise timeframe for completion of IFTN Phase 1 Plan for additional Federal and NGAC reviews Work with NGAC on integrated strategy for NSDI Initiatives

Economic Stimulus Proposals:  A Proposal for National Economic Recovery: An Investment in Geospatial Information Infrastructure / Building a National GIS (Dangermond, Miglarese)  A Proposal for Reinvigorating the American Economy Through Investment in the US National Spatial Data Infrastructure (Campbell, Curlander, Hagan, Jones, Pellici)
