11. I had the most awesome clinical elective yesterday morning in Cardiology at the Civic Hospital with Dr. Roberts. I got to scrub in to a cardiac transplant surgery that lasted almost 14 hours!! It was the first one they’d done this month! I even had a chance to see the donor heart being flown in all the way from the Vancouver! The patient was the nicest young veteran I’d ever met, and he really deserved this! Helping in such a tangible way really makes me strongly consider cardiac surgery as a potential career opportunity.
