9 Police Department Radio System Project Dispatch Operations
Implemented radio system to improve interoperability. Migrated Virginia Tech Police and Blacksburg Police operations to common radio spectrum to improve communications and interoperability. Officers can now communicate directly with member law enforcement agencies and dispatch centers during any event. Leveraged same microwave backbone for infrastructure needs. Virginia Tech Rescue will soon benefit from same infrastructure allowing another level of interoperability. Dispatch Operations Staff review and discuss current procedures and technology Staff assist with review of other consolidated centers and lessons learned. Participated in CAD demo day as exploratory session to gain knowledge of current features and functionality.

11 Converged Technologies for Security, Safety & Resilience
Executive Director attends Technology Committee meetings. Center for Geospatial Information Technology Partnered with CGIT to develop geospatial data integration and automation project to benefit regional center and improve response capabilities. Merge GIS data between jurisdictions to create regional dataset with updated data layers crucial for dispatching. Project received grant funds from Virginia E-911 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) Grant Program. Assist with batch process to import FCC data into radio propagation software. Enterprise GIS Offer support on GIS data sharing project.
