1 Quarter 1 Essential Question:  During your reading of Romeo and Juliet you will consider the causes of Romeo’s and Juliet’s deaths. At the end of Romeo and Juliet, the Prince states that some characters will be “pardoned and others punished”.  The major causes to consider for their untimely death are as follows:  Romeo’s and Juliet’s youth and inexperience based on the development of their frontal lobe.  The interference and lack of maturity of the adults in the play.  The influence of fate and/or chance on the lives of the characters. 
