17 “ ” The mission of a school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The school librarian empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skilled researchers, and ethical users of information by… providing access to materials in all formats, including up-to-date, high-quality, varied literature to develop and strengthen the love of reading (AASL Empowering 8). Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Programs

18 Without access to high-quality & high-interest resources students will not reach the level of inquiry or develop the love of reading that we want them to. Let’s strive to provide 21 st century resources for our 21 st century learners !
