2 Goal/Objective Goal : Students will use a reading excerpt to explore alternate background information on conic sections. Objective: Students will understand basic vocabulary of conic sections and evaluate the reading for important ideas on conic sections.

Use context clues, knowledge of root words, and word origins as well as reference sources to decode and understand new words. 4. Identify and explain main ideas and relevant ideas. 1.
