What are Tropical Rainforests? The tropical rain forest is a forest of tall trees in a region of year-round warmth. An average of 50 to 260 inches of rain falls yearly. A Tropical Rainforest

Where are Tropical Rainforests located? A Tropical Rainforest is an ecosystem usually found around the equator. They are common in Asia, Australia, Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico and on many of the Pacific Islands The Tropical Rainforests are highlighted Green in the picture above

Cool facts about the Rainforest An area of a rainforest the size of a football field is being destroyed each second. Giant bamboo plants can grow up to 9 inches a day The trees of a tropical rainforest are so densely packed that rain falling on the canopy can take as long as 10 minutes to reach the ground. About 2,000 trees per minute are cut down in the rainforests Trees getting cut down in the Rainforest

Other information The rainforests are home to more species or populations than all other biomes combined Temperatures range from 60-120 °F The Tropical Rainforest is split up into 5 sections the floor layer, the shrub layer, the undercanopy layer, the canopy layer and the emergent layer

“Save the Rainforest” The Rainforests are getting cut down because people forgot just how valuable they are to our environment How to help save the Rain Forest 1.Recycle everything you can: newspapers, cans, glass bottles and jars, aluminum foil, motor oil, scrap metal, etc. 2. Use cold water in the washer whenever possible. 3.Don't use electrical appliances for things you can easily do by hand, like opening cans. 4.Store food in re-usable containers, instead of plastic wrap or aluminum foil. 5.Don't leave water running needlessly. 6.Turn your heat down, and wear a sweater.
