16 Components What and why? Components are the individual assessments that comprise a module Component marks must be entered in order to calculate a module mark in BIRMS

19 Components & Modules Every module needs a mark! BIRMS needs to know that a student has a mark for every module they are registered for If a student is registered for a module that has no mark this will prevent you from correctly running End of Session in BIRMS

21 How to input Marks by Component To demonstrate… Module: Click into Marks Entry on the home BIRMS Screen Specify relevant academic year, assessment period and module code Input Marks and click Save #1

23 How to import marks by Component To demonstrate… Click into ‘Marks Entry’ & Specify relevant academic year, assessment period and module code Click ‘Create Marks by Component File’ Input component marks on the template and save Click ‘Import Marks’ on main Marks Entry Screen Choose File and Click ‘Load File’ #D2

26 Modules will have different recommendations in BIRMS depending on whether a student has a: Pass for the module Fail for the module Further attempt
