2 The California Standards Tests (CST) give students an opportunity to show how much they have achieved California content standards in English-Language arts, mathematics, science, and history-social science (for grades two through eleven). The Standards-based Tests in Spanish (STS) measures the achievement of California content standards in reading-language arts and mathematics in Spanish. This assessment is for Spanish- speaking English learners. All questions on the California Standards Test are evaluated by committees of content experts, including teachers and administrators, to ensure their appropriateness for measuring the California academic content standards. 7 Get ready to test…! Get plenty of sleep the night before your tests. Have a good breakfast; feed your brain! Arrive at school with plenty of time to find your testing room

8 Use your head…! Listen to the test examiner’s instructions. Read all the samples before you begin. For reading comprehension questions, read the questions before you read the text. Decide on your answer before you read the answer choices, then… Read all the answer choices before marking your answer. Do not get stuck on any one question you think is difficult. You can always come back to the difficult question before the end of the test. Use all the available time. Check your answers!
