3 The Bill of Rights  The First Amendment- Speech, Religion, Press, Petition, Assembly  Prior Restraint- government censorship of information before it is published or broadcast  Slander is a false speech intended to damage a person’s reputation  Libel applies to written or published statements

5 The Bill of Rights Continued  2 nd Amend- militia, armed forces of citizens  3rd Amendment- Quartering troops  4 th Amend- Probable Cause- reasonable basis to conduct a search or seizure  Search/Arrest Warrant- orders that are specific to place, items, and person being searched

8 The Bill of Rights  5 th Amend- due process of law- must follow constitutional procedures in trials and actions  Eminent Domain- government takes private property for public use  6 th Amend- change of venue, move trail to new location
