1 409 – Design changes, early 2012 Overview The following areas of the 409 design have been changed: 1)Chassis sideview from straight to curved 2)Front wheel support structures Back to original shape New swivel lock 3)Front wheels: design tweaks, suspension integrated 4)Rear wheels design tweaked 5)Folding Lock: New hook mechanism New button design 6)Pushbar adjustment button design 7)Seat adapter design tweaks 8)Folding mechanism design

2 409 – Design changes, early 2012 1) Chassis sideview straight to curved As described in the e-mail dd 2012-1-30, the chassis is changed back to the curved shape: Please note that the rear end is raised to be tangent to the brake cylinder structure. Also: no changes were made to the geometry or folding pivots.

3 409 – Design changes, early 2012 2) Front wheel support structure, shape The front wheel support structure is changed back to the original shape. Please also note that the ‘handle’ on the chassis is back to slightly curved instead of straight.

5 409 – Design changes, early 2012 2) Front wheel support structure, swivel lock Since the swivel pins are on outside, they could lock the wheels in forward & rearward positions. To prevent this, the right wheel has a smaller size boss, and the rings that cover the unused swivel holes are colourcoded and labeled R & L

6 409 – Design changes, early 2012 3) Front wheel design tweaks and suspension As described during last visit, The pivot is now seamless. Also, the end stops are integrated and hidden Please note that shown springs have a relaxed length of 45mm, coil diameter of 13.3mm and wire thickness of 1.8mm. During assebly they’re already compressed to length 28.5mm and full suspension compression is 19mm length. At 19mm they offer about 200N each, at 28.5mm they offer about 100N each.

7 409 – Design changes, early 2012 4) Rear wheel design tweaked To fit the enlarged 80mm diameter brake structure, but not look too bulky, the wheel has a conical shape.

8 409 – Design changes, early 2012 4) Rear wheel design tweaked To stay within the max 599mm width, the hub is made less wide (-10mm). This allows the AOK suspension ring to fit partly within the rear wheel volume, whish is also good for the stability.

9 409 – Design changes, early 2012 5) Folding Lock mechanism The folding lock mechanism was changed for multiple reasons -This looks much better -Less risk of play -Less risk of noises -Cables run direct and do not move when folding

12 409 – Design changes, early 2012 5) Folding Lock buttons Folding button redesigned. -No entrapment issues (gap < 5mm) -Easy to use -Direct and straight cable pull -Very narrow; no interference with seat frame
