TEAM: T O P N O T C H

Mission To provide a portable and cost-effective solution to safely and effectively transport temperature sensitive medical products to hard to reach or inaccessible areas, such as disaster struck areas only accessible by foot, or rural areas in developing countries with very little means of transportation.

Vaccines: The most effective way to prevent infectious diseases Transported via the Cold Chain system: a refrigerated drug delivery system from the production unit to a centralized health care center anywhere around the world, as certified by the World Health Organization (WHO) Background Problem Break in transport chain from central healthcare facility to inaccessible or disaster struck areas Refrigeration is vital for maintaining the shelf life of vaccines; however, many regions of the world are either off the electrical grid or have an unstable electrical supply, along with poor availability of refrigeration because of the high cost involved

COLD CHAIN TECHNIQUES Factory Product such as temperature sensitive vaccines transported in a refrigerated container to the country of destination Refrigerated vehicles transport medicines to centralized Healthcare facility where they are refrigerated Estimated 5% wastage in the process Centralized Healthcare Facility Cold Chain no longer provides effective measures to carry vaccines to the decentralized inaccessible areas like disaster struck or rural areas in the developing world Due to pure infrastructure, individual health workers have to carry vaccines with ice packs to the local health camps Causes a 75-83% wastage of the vaccines carried to such spaces Person having the vaccine administered to Several people around the world, particularly victims of natural disasters, or in impoverished parts of the world, are deprived of immunization 2,000,000 + deaths per year due to inadequate access to vaccines

What is lacking in our context? Insert Pictures

Our solution:The MedPack, a portable and affordable medical transportation device that will provide a microchip-controlled, steady temperature environment to prevent degeneration of medication, and bodily parts and fluids for governmental and non-governmental health related organizations who struggle to preserve such materials during delivery to inaccessible communities. Specs/ Functionalities Prototype

Target markets Total Available Market: Anyone that requires a portable efficient cooling. Served Available Market: Government Agencies, (What is served by Sun frost), WHO, UNICEF Target Market: PATH, Partners in Health, WHO, UNICEF, Hospitals Primary Needs from data collected –Lightweight, long cooling component, large capacity for vaccine, concern about power source (Joanie Robertson, PATH) –Affordable solutions (Mr Souleymane Kone,Technical Officer, Department Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals, World Health Organization)

Implementation/ Go to market strategies Contact WHO, PATH
