Fox Holes and Bird Nests You know how full of love and kindness our Lord Jesus was: though he was so very rich, yet to help you he became so very poor, so that by being poor he could make you rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

The Facts, Please! Fox holes are burrows, or holes in the ground, where foxes live. Foxes were common in the Holy Land in Bible times. They are wild, flesh-eating members of the dog family. Sometimes the foxes dig burrows themselves, and other times they use holes that have been abandoned by other animals. They don’t sleep through the winter in their holes, as some ground-dwellers do.

Bird nests are structures made or places chosen by birds to lay their eggs and shelter their young. When the little birds leave the nest, the parents usually do, too. Then they live in many different places, depending on the kind of bird. The Facts, Please!

Some nests are simple, and others are very elaborate. Shore birds may build nests of a few pebbles or bits of grass. There are birds that build basket-shaped nests on the ground among grasses and weeds or on the fork of a tree’s branch. Some birds build little roofs over their nests or entranceway porches. Others find natural holes in trees, cliffs, or in the ground for their homes. Burrowing owls dig large burrows in the ground where they live. Eagles return to the same nests year after year. They repair a nest by adding branches until eventually the nest is a huge structure. The Facts, Please!

Foxes and birds did not discover the best way to build their homes over many years of trying, as evolution teaches. From the very first, God gave them the instinct and intelligence to do this for the protection of themselves and their young. The Facts, Please!
