Nuclear transfer  Nuclear transfer is a process of cloning, where cells are fused together to create a clone. This is how Dolly the sheep and many other species were cloned.

Clones  A clone is something that is the exact copy of something else and the same genetic information. The are various ways of cloning such as cutting, asexually, tissue culture and natural twins.

How was Dolly created?  Dolly was created by nuclear transfer. 1. A cell is taken from an adult 2. An unfertilized egg is taken from another sheep and a nucleus is removed. 3. The cell (which has the full genetic information), is mixed with the egg and an embryo is formed. Every cell in the embryo has the same genetic information. 4. The formed embryo is then put into a surrogate mother, and Dolly was made.

Benefits of human cloning  There are many ways in which human cloning is beneficial to mankind. 1. Rejuvenation-Scientist believe that they can reverse the ageing process by what they are learning from cloning. 2. Infertility-Human cloning could make it possible for infertile couples to have children 3. A cure for cancer-We may e able to switch cells on ad off, to find a cure for cancer. 4. Kidney and liver failure-We will be able to clone livers and kidneys to transplant them.

Disadvantages of human cloning  Cloning also has its disadvantages to mankind. 1. Reproductive cloning is very expensive and very inefficient – Over 90% of attempts fail. 2. Cloning animals has affected the immune system and infection rates are very high. 3. Since a human has never been cloned we have no known outcome on emotional and mental development or complications.
