One of life ’ s “giant-size” questions is: How can I know what God wants me to do?

Then it came about afterwards that David inquired of the Lord, saying, “ Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah? ” And the Lord said to him, “ Go up. ” So David said, “ Where shall I go up? ” And He said, “ To Hebron. ” 2 Samuel 2:1

I. You have a Maker! Ask Him!

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “ This is the way, walk in it, ” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. (Isa. 30:21 ) “ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me ” (John 10:27 ). There are many promises concerning prayer in God ’ s Word. Consult your Maker.

II. You Have A Bible. Read it!

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart ” (Hebrews 4:12 ). “ Living and powerful. ”

The Bible is to God what a surgical glove is to the surgeon. He reaches through it to touch deep within you. Haven ’ t you felt his touch?

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5&6

In order to make wise decisions you must know: The providential will of God. The moral will of God. The more aware you are of the providential will of God... and the more obedient you are to the moral will of God... the easier it will be to determine and understand the will of God in personal situations.

Don ’ t make a decision, whether large or small, without sitting before God with open Bible, open heart, open ears, imitating the prayer of Samuel: “ Speak Lord for your servant heareth ” (I Sam. 3:10 )

Consult It. III. You have a Family Of Faith

Hebrews 13:7 “...whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their faith. ”

Seek Wise Counsel/Advice Proverbs 19:20 - Listen to counsel and accept discipline, that you may be wise the rest of your days. 15:22 - Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed.

One of the primary ways God speaks to us is through counsel, listen carefully!

IV. You have a heart for God Heed it.

Romans 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

Your decision needs to come from a background of faith for you to have peace about it.

You have a Maker? Ask Him! A Bible? Read it! A Family of Faith? Consult it! Heart for God? Heed it!

“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure” (Phil. 2:13 )
