3 Short history 2003 report from Senate Inquiry into the Role of libraries in the online environment 1 st National Licensing Forum (December 2004) – discussion by Australian library groups and consortia 2 nd National Licensing Forum (October 2005) and rise of the National Licensing Proposal (NLP) Reference Group Product survey of libraries (December 2005)

4 Short history Governance framework proposed (March 2006) Pricing model proposed (April 2006) 3rd National Licensing Forum (July 2006) Request for Tender (RFT) NLA06/044 issued (11 August - 13 September 2006)

5 Products sought via the RFT An opt-in panel of full-text products in the areas of: ‘General Reference’ ‘Australian News & Business Information’ and ‘Health Information’ For access via Australian libraries on-site & remotely (eg by IP authentication, patron barcode)
