An example of hot air rising to create lift is a hot air balloon
A hot air balloon can fly because when air is heated, it rises. The balloon traps the hot air. Eventually, the air heats up and rises enough that its “push” up on the balloon is greater than the pull of gravity. It flies!

Drag: slows the device down as it moves through the air
