Warm-up 1. Add these fractions. 2/3 + 4/5 + 6/7 = 2.Find a common denominator for these two fractions: 7/2x – 5/3x = 22/3 3.Factor Completely. x 2 + 7x + 12 Answers: 1.2 38/105 2.6x 3.(x+3)(x+4) HW: Worksheet P2, (1-63 odds, 107-113 odds, 115-119 odds) Please write down your homework everyday during warm-ups!!!

Homework Answers: Worksheet P1, (1-19 odds, 111-117 odds, 119-122 all) 1. 575. 887. 1011. 46 13. 1015. -817. 10 C 19. 60ft 113. 6(-5x); -30x115.5x-2x; 3x 120. 345.4 121. 522 122. 679.4 Grade the following for accuracy: 3.10 9. 44 111.x-(x+4); -4 117. 8x-(3x+6); 5x-6 119. 313; very well

Notes P2 Exponents and Scientific Notation Rules for Exponents: 1.When you multiply variables with exponents, you add the exponents. 2.When you divide variables with exponents, you subtract the exponents. 3.When you raise a variable to a power, you multiply the exponent.

Simplify each exponential expression. Ex 1: (x -6 )(x 12 )= Ex 2: 30x 12 y 9 = 5x 3 y 7 Answer: 1. x 6 2. 6x 9 y 2 YOU TRY: Answer: 1/32 (-2) -5

Simplify the exponential expression. Ex 3: Answer: YOU TRY: Answer: ALWAYS leave your answer in positive exponents!!!

Scientific Notation Remember your answer must always be between the number of 1 and 9 and should always be multiplied by the base number of 10 to a power. Write this number in scientific notation! EX. 4: 282,000,000,000 Answer: 2.82 x 10 11 You try: 0.00072 Answer: 7.2 x 10 -4

Summary: Explain why (-3x 2 )(2x -5 ) is not simplified. What must be done to simplify it? Answers must be in complete sentences!!!!!
