Research 1) Moisture in popcorn should be about 13.5 to 14 percent 2) Most popcorn pops when the kernels reach 347degrees. 3) Kernels have a water moisture inside of them and the moisture turns to steam when it pops 4) Popcorn needs a hull to pop 5) Each kernel contains a tiny drop of water that when it is heated expands, causing the kernel to pop. 6) When popcorn pops, the seed turns inside out.

5. Materials (What do I need to conduct the experiment?) Popcorn kernels (50 white/50 yellow) Popcorn popper Data sheet/writing utensils Measuring cups bowls

6. Procedures (How will I find out?) 1) Count out kernels. You will need 50 kernels of yellow and 50 kernels of white. 2) Pop the popcorn. Each group will perform one trial each, popping the yellow & the white kernels. 3) Measure the volume of the popped popcorn. Record results after each trial. Report group results to instructor
