The Sensory Box  Used for fine motor skills, but this particular picture has a bigger story to it. (….)  the four children closest to the picture were on a mission to put all the magnetic sticks in the crease of the sensory box.  Student in Blue shirt didn’t listen and also put the metal balls in the crease.

Social/Emotional Development  All showed and expressed their emotions  Also expressing their ideas and feelings with each other even after the disagreement broke out Erickson’s Theory  the purpose of right or wrong was questioned in the ages of four to six.

Drawings: all from 4 yr. old girls  a monster with a lot of arms, two legs, glasses, a top hat, two eyes, a nose, a mouth, and the color of the inside of the mouth, along with shirtsleeves and objects swimming in his stomach.  This Student is one of the more quiet ones in the class who always makes it her mission to color inside the lines, as seen from above the monsters in the squares. She is a very good student who loves to clean up after every center, sometimes even helps other centers she’s not a part of clean up. But that day she decided to draw something crazy and colorful with messy lines around the body which really made her laugh because it was something so different for her to do.

Cont.  a drawing of the sun complete with glasses and a smile.  Scribbles are under the sun because she messed her first sun.  This student is one of the more sassy students they have. She wants to do what she wants and when it doesn’t go her way she argues with the teacher and says “at home I am aloud to do this”. Also the orange scribble at the top was from her not coloring inside the lines when making a square pattern with colors.

Cont.  a small illustration of a bug in a magnifying glass.  I was really impressed with this one because it was so small yet I could tell what was going on.  This four year old is also one of the quieter students who always love cleaning up and coloring inside the lines.

Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development  In the preoperational stage where they start to try to understand reasoning Cognitive Development  The amount of detail on each drawing shows their cognitive development.  Two of the girls are well on their way to accomplishing more sub stages than others while the other is having trouble reasoning with authority figures.

Shaving Cream  This four year old boy was a little apprehensive about getting his hands covered in shaving cream  Started by drawing smaller images and shorter words

Shaving Cream  As time went on he started getting comfortable with writing and drawing on it that he covered his hands in it and started making bigger pictures.

Shaving Cream  One of his drawings was a portrait of me.

Shaving Cream  A three yr. old girl was definitely not afraid to get her hands covered in shaving cream. She even started drawing pictures on her arms because she had so much of it on her instead of the table.

Physical Development & Skinner’s Theory  Being able to achieve fine motor control  coordinating small muscles such as their hand or wrist with confidence  Using behavioral reinforcement by his classmates in his group to make the student feel comfortable with getting his hands in the shaving cream.
