8 What’s working out there now? Connect business partners with kids (evolution of the relationship) –Classroom presentations (an hour) –Job shadowing (a half-day) –Mentoring (once or twice a month) –Student conferences / internship preparation (full day) –Paid Internships (240 – 400 hours) Recognition as a reward You’ve got to ASK them! –Give them a chance to say “YES” Pull at their heartstrings, before you pull at their purse strings 2009 Institute for Staff Development Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow
