Multiview 1 - 1990 A 5-stage methodology Incorporates SSM, ETHICS and other structured (hard) approaches – pick the right ones for the problem situation Multiview 2 – 1998 More of a framework requires mediation amongst 4 components: organisational analysis, socio-technical analysis and design, information modelling and technical design & construction Avision & Fitzgeralds observation was that mid 90s onwards saw the era of methodology reassessment. pp.542 -

4 IS33 ISD - Multiview4 Weeks 5(2) 2008 Multiview 1 The 5 stages – see fig 25.1 and fig 25.3 (Avison & Fitzgerald) Stage 1 = SSM Stage 2 = functional and data modelling ( requirements specification) Stage 3 = ETHICS (see fig 25.4 in A & F) Stage 4 = interface design (HCI) Stage 5 = technical design

Are you beginning to see similarities amongst ISD approaches /methodologies? Note the scope of different methodologies (see fig. 27.3 in A & F) Study on failure cases – have you learned some lessons?
