2 Who and What is UFREF? Who?  We are volunteers, who care about the education our students receive, and the climate in which our students receive it in What?  A 501c3 organization  Dedicated to raising private support to fund grants that promote educational excellence  We also target our fund raising to help promote an outstanding learning environment for all of our students (in each of our schools) 2

3 Case for Support Why does the district need an education foundation?  2% tax cap per year  Health Care costs continue to rise  Special Education costs continue to rise each year  State Aid has remained flat  $1.9 million cut from the budget last year  The district has cut funding for deferred maintenance and facility needs 3

4 UFREF has given back Over $146,000 back to the school district to fund:  Grants  Expanding Academic Offerings  Expanding Extra Curricular Offerings  Improving and Enhancing Our Facilities 4

5 Funding Needs for 2015-2016  Allentown High School Needs:  Priority #1 New Sound System and Equipment for Auditorium ($5,000)  Priority #2 New Lighting for the Auditorium ($14,000)  Priority #3 Project Lead The Way a Pre-Engineering Curriculum for High School Students  Fund Aerospace Engineering module, the third of four in the series. Aerospace Engineering start up costs: ($14,000 - one time cost for this school year)  Capstone Course, the 4 th and final module, start up costs ($4,000 - one time cost in 2016 - 2017)  Cost to maintain the four courses each year $10,000 (yearly cost) District will budget $5,000. The remainder will need to be supplemented.  Priority #4 Restarting Grants Program 5

6 Funding Needs for 2015-2016 Stone Bridge Middle School Needs:  Priority #1: 25 Chromebooks  Anticipated Cost to District:  Costs per device to be approximately $326 each  Breakdown of the $326: $200 unit +$26 license +$100 warranty  Total cost to the district: $8,150.00  Priority #2: Additional Modules to support our Applied Technology Course  Anticipated Cost to District:  Paxton ActionLABS Integrated Instructional Units: $12,385.00  72-0600 Paxton Content Learning Management System: $2,800.00  Installation: $ 1,400.00  Teacher Professional Development: $2,000.00  Total Cost to the District: $18,585.00  Priority #3: Equipment to Support Scratch Computing Club  Anticipated Cost to District:  RedBot Kit: 10 kits @ $113.95= $1,139.50  Inventor’s Kit: 10 kits @ $94.95= $949.50  Total cost to the district: $2,089.00  Priority #4: Grants Program 6

7 Funding Needs for 2015-2016 Newell Elementary School Needs:  Priority #1: Class Set of Chromebooks & Cart for 3 rd /4 th Grade Classes  Supports PARCC Initiative and student comfort level with use of same technology tool used during assessment.  Supports One-To-One Initiative at SBMS by allowing our 4 th grade students to have more time, exposure and experience working on Chromebooks.  Supports 21 Century Learning  Supports STEM  Projected Cost: 25 Chromebooks – total--$9625  Priority #2: Grants Program 7

11 AHS Student Contest  AHS students can put together a PSA for the Ed Foundation  PSA must contain:  Mission of the Foundation  Emphasis 3 accomplishments of Foundation  Speak to  need for volunteers  corporate donations  getting involved  Winner will be decided by community vote  Prize is $250 gift card 11

12 SBMS Logo Contest  Create a new logo for the Upper Freehold Regional Education Foundation to help us revitalize our presence in the community.  Prize: $100 Visa Gift Card  Contest Overview: This contest is open to students currently enrolled in Stone Bridge Middle School.
