2. 2 Bilateral cooperation programme ICI ICI (Industrialised Countries Instrument) promotes co- operation between the European Union and seventeen industrialised and other high-income countries and territories in North America, the Asia-Pacific region and the Gulf region. One of the supported specific actions promotes "people-to- people links" with the aim to enhance mutual understanding between cultures and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge.

3. 3 ICI-ECP ICI-ECP (Education Cooperation Programme) refers to EU cooperation with Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the Republic of Korea in the field of higher education and vocational education and training. The programme includes regional and bilateral cooperation projects based on joint EU - Partner Countries funding and mutual agreement on the selection of higher education partnerships.

ICI-ECP characteristics Development of common study programmes+mobility (Double/Joint Degree and/or Joint Study programmes) Bachelor or Master degree, or VET, but no PhD Lump sum for administration and development work Flat rate grants for Student and Staff Mobility Balanced activities and shared responsibility Co-funding by the EU and the partner country 50% + 50% 4

NEW Call ICI – ECP EACEA/44/2012 Deadline for applications 15.05.2013 Budget : from EU side approximately 2.45 M€ Plan to fund 5-9 cooperation projects Partner Countries participating in the call: Australia (3/4), Japan (3/5), New Zealand (1) or Republic of Korea (3/5) Cooperation projects to be developed btw EU and one of the Partner Countries 5

6. Project types: Double or Joint Degree projects ( priority to Joint Degrees) Mobility projects in the area of VET and to projects offering work placements or training experience Projects planned to start October 2013 6
