3  The Ultimate Aim of the Program is: To contribute to bringing about a more just, inclusive and sustainable global society in which all people participate in shaping their own destinies.

4  The Goal of The Program is: To strengthen organizations involved in community-driven development by providing high quality, leadership development opportunities for mid and senior level staff.

23 ASSESSMENT  Constructive written comments, not numerical grades, are provided.  Numerical Grades will appear Only on Final Transcript Excellent90-100 Very Good 80-89 Good 70-79 Fair50-69 Unsatisfactory under 50  5 point deduction for each day an assignment is late.

24 PARTICIPATION  Participation normally 20 per cent of course grade.  Assessment may be facilitator, peer, or self;  In most cases, participation is based on: Being present and on time; Being productively involved; Creating positive learning environment for others.

25 MONITORING AND EVALUATION We Encourage Feedback:  Program evaluations half way and at the end of the program;  Course evaluations on the final day of every course, workshop or specialization.

26 POLICIES

27 ATTENDANCE  Attend all classes, workshops, field programs, & other academic activities;  Essential for course credit;  Absence requires prior approval of the Manager of Educational Programs and course facilitators.

28 PLAGIARISM  Is a serious offence;  Ideas borrowed from others must be clearly credited;  May result in failure in the course or dismissal.

29 GENDER-INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE  Verbal and written language should include both genders, when speaking of both men and women. Use “humankind”, “people” (not “man” or “mankind”) Write” s/he” or “they”  The University Writing Centre can offer help as well as teaching staff.  Assignments may be returned for rewriting.

30 LEARNING JOURNAL  A learning journal is a tool to support your learning;  Used to capture notes, ideas, observations and insights with particular meaning and relevance to you.  Forms: Notebook Blog
