2.  Boston University has three official graduation dates:  May (date changes each year)  September 25 th  January 25 th

3.  Dr. Jones will be emailing tentative graduates the details related to sign-out.  Directions on how to utilize electronic sign- out system on SPS will be sent shortly there after by the Office of the Registrar  You should be actively checking SPS to see which signatures you have already obtained as well as completing any work necessary to receive the remaining signatures.

4. SIGNED OUT CONFERRAL DATE or DATE of DIPLOMA DIPLOMA DISTRIBUTION By May 16 th, 2013 May 19 th, 2013 Given at Commencement on May 17th, 2013 Between May 17 th & May 19 th 2013 May 19 th, 2013 Be mailed to “diploma address” you updated under diploma & graduation info on the student link

5.  May 19 th, 2013 Diploma  Letter of Graduation which states your official graduation date and degree conferred.  Official Final Transcript which includes your final grades, your official graduation date and degree conferred.

6. SIGNED OUT CONFERRAL DATE or DATE of DIPLOMA DIPLOMA DISTRIBUTION Between May 20 th & August 30 th, 2013 September 25 th, 2013 You must update your “diploma mailing address” under diploma & graduation info on the student link, diploma will be mailed to that address

7.  Letter of Completion which states the date you completed the necessary requirements for the degree which will be conferred on September 25 th  Official transcript with your final grades. No degree or conferral date will be posted.

8.  September 25 th, 2013 diploma  The diploma company mails your diploma to the address you entered on the student link. This process could take several weeks.

9.  An official final transcript with your degree and date of conferral  An official letter of graduation

10.  Please read all materials/instructions carefully prior to submitting the application and fee. License requirements vary by state and some states will not accept a “Letter of Completion” in lieu of graduation.  Some states will only take an official final transcript with the degree and graduation date on it. If you sign out by May 19 th, 2013, your transcript will indicate a May 19th, 2013 graduation date.

11.  If you sign out after May 19 th, 2013, an official final transcript (indicating date of graduation and degree) will only be issued on or after September 25 th, 2013.  You can receive an official transcript at any time, but you can only be issued an official final transcript with your graduation date and degree on or after September 25 th, 2013.

12.  All University Commencement Program: “The Red Book”  BUGSDM Commencement Ceremony Program ◦ Both of the above programs will reflect your name and previous degrees as it appears on the student link as of March 13 th, 2013. ◦ Your name will appear in both programs whether you are a May, September or January graduate, unless you have restricted your data on the student link.

13.  If you are currently enrolled in the AETNA student health plan, then your coverage officially ends on August 30 th, 2013.

14.  All DMD and Advanced Standing students are currently enrolled in a student disability insurance plan.  When you graduate, you are entitled to convert your coverage to an individual non- cancelable policy w/out medical underwriting.  Details are located on the Office of the Registrar’s web site.

15.  Please notify Ms. Lindsay McHugh in the Office of Event and Meeting Planning if you will be unable to attend the graduation ceremony. She is located in Robinson’s Bldg. 72 East Concord St., room B-341. Her e-mail address is lindsayc@bu.edu
