2  Any two people share an average of 99.9% of their DNA, meaning that only 0.1% of your DNA is unique to you!  The only exception is identical twins, who share 100% of their DNA.  Our unique DNA, 0.1% of 3 billion, amounts to 3 million base pairs.  DNA is present in all evidence, including blood, hair, skin, saliva, and semen.

3  DNA can be amplified to study by using PCR.  People related by blood have even fewer differences so if it similar but not exact you can look for relatives of the suspect.  Human error for cases is an issue, because there are many precautions, but it can never be eliminated.

4 It is easier to exclude a suspect and to convict a suspect with evidence. DNA is one of the many types of evidence, but you need more then one type of evidence to prove someone guilty.

5  In order to use DNA to find out who it is, you need enough of it to do anything.  If you don’t have enough then, you can use PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to make more.  And use electrophoresis to identify the differences.
