3 The Tilma & The Image A Tilma is a very coarse, woven covering worn by field workers made with sacking material held together by weak stitching. (5-50 years) Scientific investigation reveals NO BRUSH STROKES or STITCHING. (It’s more like a photograph, taken 300 years before photography is even invented)

4 Symbolism of the Image: Colors Blue Mantel – Royalty (only an Aztec high-god could wear blue)

5 5 Red/Rose Dress – Dawn, Martyrdom, Divine Love Symbolism of the Image: Colors

6 Symbolism of the Image Crested Moon is a Meso-american symbol for the god Quetzalcoatl (stone serpent), Christian symbol for Mary’s perpetual virginity & reflective light. Bright Sun – Aztec indians worshipped the sun God.

7 Symbolism of the Image Head Bowed – Humility. Loose Hair was a sign of a maiden/virgin. Sash – 4 pedals of the flower refer to divinity in Aztec culture – Mary is carrying something divine in her womb Flowers – Have shapes of the mountain Tepeyac where the apparition took place; Also refers to flowers blooming where there are no flowers.

12 A Prayer Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mystical rose, Make intercession for the Holy Church. Protect the Sovereign Pontiff, and help all those who ask you for their necessities. Since you are the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of God, obtain for us from your most holy Son - The grace of keeping our faith; Sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life; Burning charity, and the precious gift of final perseverance. Amen. 12
