1 Data Analysis Lab 02 Using Crosstabs to compare percentages

2 Open your Excel Dataset from Lab 1 and rename this lab 2, then highlight all the data, insert, pivot table, name the pivot table tab “Lab 2 Crosstabs”

3 Put Wordsum in Row and Values, leave the values as count

4 Group into less than 5 words correct and 5 or more words correct

5 Remove the old WORDSUM

6 Remove the non answers

7 Add Sex to the Row, label Male and Female, Put WORSUM2 in Column

8 Copy with extra space around it, paste a copy next to it

9 Change second chart to % of row total

10 For Both Charts, reorder the DV so the 5+ is second, by clicking and dragging it

11 Now Copy them both and paste below

12 For Both Copies Replace Sex With, race and add labels Race, and add labels

13 Then copy these Race and Wordsum Charts and paste them below and replace race with Degree

14 Add labels for degree

15 Use Page Layout and View, Page Break Preview to print all 6 charts on 1 page

16 Next Check to see if your analysis is statistically significant It seems that gender does not matter but that race and degree do.

17 Save your dataset at the end of each lab

20 Be sure that you have noted the missing values so it looks like this- not the slide before

21 Fyi – if it doesn’t here is where you fix it

23 Be sure to remove any older variables if they are in there

34 Next do the analysis of this DV by the following IV’s: Sex, Race and Degree
