10 E u r o p e a n C o m m i s s i o nCommunity Research Global Change and Ecosystems - Water cycle and Soil-related aspects Key characteristics Flood research is considered in the context of hydrological cycle, water resources management and sustainability sustainable management of water resources requires due consideration of the potential impacts of global changes, especially vulnerability in extreme events. Floods and droughts are considered together managing the water cycle as a whole is necessary rather than treating floods and droughts as distinct problems. Global Change and Ecosystems Research on Floods - Water Cycle
