3 Field trips for Project Wet (October), AZ State Capitol (January), Basha Art Gallery (March) Pies and Poetry in November, possible Testing Picnic after testing Art Masterpieces Lessons (all year) Junior Achievement (spring) End of Quarter Celebrations (movie/snacks)

Agendas (fill out work completed in class) Taking Care of Business Binder (back and forth daily) Email me: rose.Stefanie@cusd80.com Graded Work sent home weekly, check Infinite Campus weekly for progress Homework nightly (reading, spelling, math) No signatures needed Progress Reports sent home at mid-quarter Parent/Teacher Conferences in August and February)

7 Punch Card Earn punches every day for following classroom rules, procedures, completion of homework Use punch cards for rewards Consequences: time out, loss of recess, email home, conference, behavior plan

8 CUSD Grading Policy 90 – 100 = A 80 – 89 = B 70 – 79 = C 60 – 69 = D Below 60 = F Papers are marked number correct over the number possible (17/20, 9/10) Anything graded can be corrected to receive ½ point added to original score. (Reading is sometimes the exception due to class review) Not all papers are graded but are used to drive instruction

9 Daily Homework Written in agenda DAILY Monday – Thursdays ….Math, Spelling, and Reading Every Night Studying for Unit tests (Science or Social Studies) Reading at home (at least 30 minutes) Recitations and book reports assigned every 6 weeks

12 Saxon Guided Math Lessons Common Core lessons that go deeper into every learning goal Hands-on learning with manipulatives Math Problem Solving Journals Creating Critical Thinkers Through Problem Solving

13 Harcourt Science 4 Units of Study: Getting Ready for Science, Life, Physical, and Earth and Space Science Read text, complete work in class Generally no homework other than studying for a unit test Unit tests are all OPEN BOOK Harcourt Social Studies Arizona 4 Units of study: Az”s geography and People, Settlement and Change, Arizona Statehood, and Arizona’s Government and Economy Read text, complete work in class. Generally no homework other than studying for a unit test. Unit tests are all OPEN book.

14 State Testing in April All Online AZ Merit – Reading, Writing, Math AIMS – Science Galileo Testing – End of every quarter (all completed in computer labs) Reading, Math, Science

15 Room 27 Policies Make-up work will be sent up in the afternoons or when student returns Not all work can be made up Send in an excuse letter After multiple absences a letter is sent home from the school/county. Remember, excessive tardies have a negative impact on student achievement

16 Birthday Treats – best if handed out during lunch time, can also hand out bookmarks, pencils, stickers, or other non- food treats Snacks (healthy, no nuts please) Water bottles Join PTO and sign up for their online newsletters.
