2. 1.1Why did you use a computer? What other systems / resources could you have used? I used a computer because there are a whole lot of resources to use, mostly the internet, because using a library for instance it would take a while to find and read the right book. However with the internet the answer is just a few clicks away. Also power point presentation helped improve the quality and to add more detail to my presentation making it stand out above the rest. Finally I used a computer because of all the images and video clips that are available to add to the presentation making explaining the school to others a little easier than reading from a small piece of paper.

3. 1.2What skills did you need to learn in order to use PowerPoint? To use power point I needed to learn skills such as being able to direct myself to the resources. I needed to make my power point so I needed to know how to use word art, text box and a variety of others such as adding videos and images to my power point in order to improve the quality of my work. I also needed to learn skills such as being able to type fast and smoothly to get a lot of detailed and important information into my presentation. Also one another skill I needed was to use the master slide resource to help all the pictures on each slide look identical to one another.

4. 1.2What resources did you need to make the presentation successful? To make my presentation successful I needed the internet for research and to find suitable images to add to my presentation. I needed suitable images because a presentation would be boring without them and also the presentation is easier to use with resources such as images and videos. Also I added images and videos to my presentation so the readers do not just have to read about the school but they can listen/see what the school has to offer.

5. 1.4What factors might have affected how well you completed the presentation? (e.g. time / attendance / knowledge of software) The layout of the slides could have effected the quality of my presentation because of most of the images being slightly out of place from the other slides. The time taken to complete it was a while but managed to finished it soon after the deadline. Also the amount of information I used degraded my coursework to a minimum grade. I was absent about two of the lessons of coursework. I needed to attend a catch up session, however this helped as the teacher had a considerate amount of time to assist me in my work and also access to a computer was available to use for extra support.

6. 1.6Why did you use PowerPoint to make your presentation? What other software was available? Why did you choose not to use them? I choose to use power point because it is much easier to use than word. Also it is full of creative tools to make your presentation more interesting, eye-catching and more acceptable to share. Power point gives you the advantage of being able to create quick and easy presentations with a lot of detail information for anyone to read. Also unlike word it is easier to add videos and pictures to your presentation to make it more interesting.

7. 1.7Were there any legal constraints or local constraints that changed the way you created your presentation? (e.g. copyright, file sizes, AUP) During the build up of my unit 10 presentation one of the main problems was copyright, some of the images I used could have had copyright purposes or restrictions. This meant having to observe the restrictions and to follow to proper purpose of the image. Another problem I had to face would have been the acceptable file size constraint, in my presentation I have used several video clips of what goes on around school however when trying to upload it, the system would say that the files take up to much memory for the upload to be completed therefore I had to change the clips to ones with a smaller file size. The last problem was banned websites. When I tried to find images for my presentation some of the websites were restricted. This made it hard to finish as finding suitable images was a challenge to knock down.

8. 2.2Which tools within PowerPoint made it appropriate for your presentation? Slide transitions: slide transitions help your slides look more interesting in-between each one and helps you to quickly switch slides with some detail. Hyperlinks: hyperlinks are useful because it gives you the ability to quickly direct you to useful websites very easily and it helps add more detail to your presentation along with extra information about the school. Video: a video can show the readers not only images but clips of how the school is ran and even a tour of the school, this could help your presentation more than just words and simple pictures. These all helped improve the quality of my presentation and also to help explain it seems words are not that interesting when explaining something big.

9. 2.4What improvements do you think you could do to your presentation? My presentation is good for its colour however it is a problem because of colour blind, I could spend as much time as possible on making my presentation colourful and pretty but to most people it would be a problem. An improvement I could also make is I could use master slide to make each of my slides look exactly the same because most of my slides are a bit out of place compared to other created slides. One other improvement I could make would be the lack of good quality and inaccurate images I’ve Added to my presentation.

10. 3.2What improvements do you think you could have done to improve your work rate? (keyboard shortcuts, file names & locations, backups, work after school, templates, planning) To improve my work rate I could try starting to complete my work (coursework) outside of school time and into my free time as in school there are a lot of distractions and lack of time. I could also try to plan out my work before deciding to make my presentation from scratch or just trying to make it from off the top of head. One more thing I could do would be to place it somewhere that I could get to very fast and very easily such as an open folder or adding to my home page as a way of being able to continue my work as quick as possible and to save a lot of time to work on the task at hand.
