It’s no secret that writing isn’t a favorite subject for students, so I want to open the for discussion and concerns:  What questions do you have?  What concerns you most about this class?  What do you like/dislike about writing?  What can I do to make this term more manageable?

Persuasive Mode: very assertive, states a specific position on an issue (not on a broad topic), and also persuades the reader to do something specific.

Although there are some reputable, scholarly contributors, it is an online encyclopedia that anyone (regardless of credentials) can edit.

CM220 College Composition II Tuesday, October 20, 2015 17 Unit 2: Writing Styles & Library Orientation a look ahead - unit 3 The Unit 3 seminar will focus on:  Research and source evaluation, as well as logical fallacies  The Unit 3: we’ll be discussing your topic and the controversies you have found about that topic.  Unit 3 Project: The project is to create an APA title page.  Note for Unit 4 and 5: if you cannot find sources for your topic, it may not be suitable topic to write a paper for this class.  Likewise, if you cannot find a clear debate in the sources you found (authors who take opposing positions), you may wish to rethink your topic.
