1 Amendment 1 Congress cannot make a law that limits freedom of religion, free speech, free press, or the right to of people to get together in groups. Amendment 2 The government cannot stop citizens from keeping guns because the military is necessary to keep peace.

2 Amendment 4 Citizens have the right to be safe in their houses, their belongings, and their persons against unreasonable searches and seizures. IF the government wants to search anything, they must have a search warrant which tells what they are looking for and where they can search. Amendment 3 No soldiers can be kept in people’s homes in time of peace, without the permission of the owner; in the times of war, certain rules have to be followed.

3 Amendment 6 When a person is accused of a crime, he/she will have a quick and public trial. The jury will be fair. The accused will be told what the charge is and can face the people who say he/she has broken the law. The accused can have a lawyer to help him/her with the case. Amendment 5 No person can be charged with a crime unless the charges have been brought by a grand jury. A person cannot be charged with the same crime twice. A person does not have to testify against himself/herself. A person can’t have his or her life, property, or freedom taken from him/her without being treated fairly by the law.

4 Amendment 7 When a person sues another person and the amount of money is over $200.00, the case may be decided by a jury, and the decision is final. Amendment 8 Excessive bail or fines cannot be required. No cruel or unusual punishment is allowed.

5 Amendment 9 People have other rights that are not listed in the Bill of Rights. Amendment 10 The powers not given to the government are given to the individual states.

6 Amendment 12 Revised the way we vote for our president. Amendment 11 States cannot be sued by out-of-state citizens and foreigners not living within the states borders.

7 Amendment 13 Abolishment of slavery. Amendment 14 Civil rights: All persons born in the United States no matter their race, gender, or ability, are citizens and have the same rights including the right to life, liberty, and property.

8 Amendment 15 The rights of citizens cannot be denied based on race, color, or ability. All men have the right to vote regardless of their race or color. Amendment 16 Federal government has the right to collect income tax.

9 Amendment 18 Prohibition of alcohol. Amendment 17 Senators will be directly elected.

10 Amendment 19 The rights of citizens cannot be denied based on gender. Woman have the right to vote. Amendment 20 How long the terms are for Congress and the President.

11 Amendment 21 Takes back the 18 th amendment, alcohol is now allowed. Amendment 22 Presidents can only serve 2 terms or 10 years.

12 Amendment 23 Washington D.C. is permitted to have a representative in the electoral vote. So, the citizens of D.C. would have a vote for the president even though D.C. not a state. Amendment 24 People do not have to pay a tax in order to vote.

13 Amendment 25 If something should happen to the president the vice president will take his place. Amendment 26 You can vote at the age of 18.

14 Amendment 27 Congressional salaries cannot change until the beginning of the next session of Congress.
