1 Users’ Office News Doris Chromek-Burckhart Head of Users Office Experience with the new Procedures and Forms Status of the Project for a possible future insurance

2 Registration Procedures  New regulations came into force 1.1.2013  A revision of the contract handling procedures had the aim to  Adapt the legal framework and the procedures to common employment situations in the scientific community  Streamline and facilitate the registration procedures  Increase the possible maximum contract length  Harmonize registration procedures and forms across CERN  The transition from the previous to the new procedures is successfully completed  The Users’ Office extended more than 1000 contracts at the turn over of the year and many new contracts  The Improvements of the new procedures are already apparent 99th ACCU Meeting 6. March 2013 - Users' Office - D. Chromek-Burckhart2

3 Statistics 1.3.2013 The increase of the maximum contract length is well appreciated. Today 118 Users have already a contract length of more than two years 99th ACCU Meeting 6. 4 Project for an alternative Insurance for Associated Members of the Personnel Follow-up of the proposal presented at the last ACCU meeting on 7 th of December 2012 by Lorenz Stämpfli This insurance project has the aim of fulfilling the needs of the Users at CERN for financial cover of  emergency health problems  health problems due to private and work accidents It should be valid in Switzerland and France This insurance is considered subsidiary to an existing base insurance Cost estimate: 1.55 Chf /day/person 99th ACCU Meeting 6. March 2013 - Users' Office - D. Chromek-Burckhart4

5 Status  The offer presented in the last ACCU meeting was clarified  An additional offer was requested: the option to subscribe for a complete insurance with the same insurances company making use of the same subscription mechanisms  Possible implementation models are under study, considering that  The offer must be cost effective  The insurer refrains from administrating the contract affiliation and fee payments and requests a single point of contact  CERN is not the employer nor the insurer  The institutes need to participate as actors in the project 99th ACCU Meeting 6. March 2013 - Users' Office - D. Chromek-Burckhart5
