1 THS’71 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM How it started In the meetings conducted in preparation for the 40 th anniversary of THS Batch ’71, it was suggested that we come up with a project that would leave a legacy to our Alma Mater. After several brainstorming sessions, it was decided to provide a continuing financial assistance to poor but deserving incoming freshmen. We all agreed that education could improve their quality of life

2 THS’71 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM MILESTONES  Apr. 24, 2010 – Scholarship Committee was formed@ THS Library  Dec. 1, 2010 – Golf Tournament @ Philippine Navy Golf Club  Dec. 15, 2010 – Solicitations from Batch mates in the USA  Jan. 15, 2011 – Proceeds from the Souvenir Program established  July 15, 2011 – Scholarship Launch in THS c/o Ms L. Cajayon  Sept. 25, 2011 – Six candidates were selected from amongst several names submitted by the Alumni Coordinator  Oct. 8, 2011 – Alumni Board final interview of the candidates and house visit to determine financial status  Oct. 29, 2011 – The 7 th Scholar was identified as funds were enough  Dec. 4, 2011 – Presentation of the Scholars to the Gen. Membership

3 THS’71 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FUND RAISING  Three fund-raising activities were identified to finance the project as well as the Ruby Reunion celebration. - Golf tournament – P 106,000 - Souvenir magazine advt’s – P 50,000 - Solicitations local/abroad - P 110,000
