2 2 Cancer Alliance of Texas (CAT) Mission: To engage organizations, agencies, institutions and individuals to work collaboratively to reduce the impact of cancer in Texas and promote the Texas Cancer Plan Statewide collaborative coalition initiated in 2005 ~75 members/partners and growing Includes academic medical centers, hospitals, pharmaceutical firms, cancer advocacy groups and individuals

3 3 Texas Cancer Plan The primary purpose of the Texas Cancer Plan is to guide and influence the priorities and activities in cancer research, prevention and control of all stakeholders in Texas

4 4 Texas CAT Members  NCI-designated cancer centers in Texas  State agencies, private and public clinics and hospitals, medical schools  Local, state and national non-profit organizations  Texas businesses, industry, pharma & biotech leaders, local economic development agencies

9 9 Role of Mission Leads for Prevention, Early Detection/Treatment, Survivorship & Research LEADS: Primary Prevention/Lynne Nguyen, MPH Early Detection/Maria Fernandez, PhD Survivorship/Terri Holmes Research/Barbara Pence, PhD  Serve Actively on CAT Executive Committee  Serve as content experts and spokespersons on respective mission priority for CAT  Help coordinate responses to requests for support and assistance from CAT members, partners and collaborators

10 10 Role of Priority Activity Workgroup Leads for ACA, Evaluation, Tobacco Control/CEO Gold Standard LEADS: ACA: Lewis Foxhall, MD & Liz James Evaluation TX Cancer Plan: Deborah Vollmer Dahlke, Dr. PH & Barbara Pence, PhD Tobacco: Philip Huang, MD & Austin Steeves  Serves actively on CAT Executive Committee  Leads the workgroup in the development of a two year plan for the priority activity  Conducts conference calls and meetings as necessary to implement the two year plan  Provides regular updates at CAT Meetings and to the CAT Executive Committee  Presents a webinar on priority issue to CAT members and identified target audience(s)
