OLYMPIC MOTO AND CREED MOTTOCITIUS-ALTIUS-FORTIUSFASTER-HIGHER-STONGER These three words encourage the at athlete to give his or her best during competition, and to view this effort as a victory. Athletes strive for personal excellence. CREED “The most important thing in the Olympic games is not to win but to take part just as the most important in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is to not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

~Olympic History~ From 1940- 1948 World War ll stopped the Olympics from doing their cool, cool, cool stuff. The Winter Olympics are every 4 years. They only include events that are on the ice or snow.

OLYMPICS IN CANADA Calgary Winter Olympics 1988 1988 Montreal Summer Olympics 1976. 1976.

~OLYMPIC MASCOTS~

~THE THREE OLYMPIC MASCOTS~ The three Olympic mascots are Quatchi, Miga and Sumi. Mukmuk is our “electronic” mascot Quatchi is a sasquatch who came from the mysterious forest of British Columbia. He is very timid or shy. Quatchi’s favorite game is hockey. He wants to be a famous goalie. I am most like Sumi because we both like forest green. Forest green is our favorite color because it is the color of the world, especially our green forests and represents our environment! I am most like Sumi, but my favorite mascot is Quatchi. Quatchi loves hockey, but I don’t like hockey.

Can you imagine that a marmot is an Olympic mascot. His name is MUKMUK. MUKMUK is like a sidekick and he is an cyber-mascot. There was an online petition to try and get Mukmuk as an official Olympic mascot but it failed. MUKMUK loves the Olympic games a lot. MUKMUK loves to eat! The main thing he likes eating are ferns, flowers and berries. MukMuk’s favourite food is berries. Mukmuk’s dream is to be a mascot with Quatchi, Miga and Sumi. He also dreams about telling the whole world about his furry little marmot friends. Quatchi, Miga and Sumi are Mukmuk’s best friend’s. He met them when he was going for a walk one day. MukMuk met Quatchi first, then he met Miga and finally he met Sumi. They stayed in a group until it was time for MukMuk to go. MukMuk did not want to go. “But we have to go!” moaned Quatchi. “Can I go with you?” muttered Mukmuk. “I’m sorry you can’t. We have to go do our job, visiting people across Canada. But maybe we can visit you online.” Sumi suggested. “Great idea! See you later.” Mukmuk smiled. Mukmuk, Quatchi, Miga and Sumi had a great time and they lived happily ever after! ~The End~

The first Olympic Torch Relay was held in 1936. That is cool!! The flame goes back nearly 3,000 years. It represents peace, friendship and goodwill. The 2010 Torch Relay is the longest in history. The flame was lit by the sun in Greece where traveled for 8 days. It was then handed over to Canada and flown by jet to Victoria where it arrived on October 30. This was the official beginning of the 2010 Torch Relay.
