4 The purpose The purpose of this training aid is to assist faculty and students with various reports and utilities within the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) system. The following topics will be covered: Opening the cataloging module Setting up material types Deleting materials (individually or batch) Adding materials (manual or import) Correcting MARC records Using an authority file for subject headings

Input your User ID Password

6 Opening the Cataloging module
At this page you click on CATALOG

7 SETTING UP MATERIAL TYPES
LibraryWorld comes with pre-set materials types. There is no need to set up.

8 Opening the Cataloging module
From the main screen click on CATALOG

9 DELETING MATERIALS Enter the title of the material to be deleted.

10 DELETING MATERIALS Click on the DELETE tab at the top.

11 Adding MATERIALS Click on NEW RECORD to add new material.

12 Adding MATERIALS Enter the ISBN and search to enter the NEW RECORD.

13 CORRECTING MARC RECORDS
After clicking on the title of the book this is part of the MARC RECORD. All fields on the left are editable.

14 CORRECTING MARC RECORDS
If you choose to edit the SUBJECT part of the MARC RECORD, you would enter a new subject on this screen and save.

15 USING AN AUTHORITY FILE FOR SUBJECT HEADINGS
If you have multiple books on the same topic, you can add SUBJECT HEADINGS to the MARC RECORD to help narrow the search.

At this page you can VIEW REPORTS, CUSTOMIZE REPORTS and use the TOOLS function to enhance a search.

22 Backing up & rebuilding in opac
It was required several years ago for Atlanta Public Schools Media Specialist to run a weekly back-up of their system. Today’s Media Specialist are not required to perform weekly back-ups, as it is done at the district level and stored in the Mainframe located at the Central Office. If a school looses information, it will retrieve their backup data from the Central Office - Client Support Team. Client Support Number

Once you have logged into Library Solutions, you can run various circulation reports that are under the REPORTS tab at the top.

Select the PUBLIC FOLDERS tab. Click on the link CATEGORY RELATED REPORTS then the LISTINGS LINK.

Click on the link TITLE LEVEL INFORMATION. Select the NEW & EDITED TITLES FOR THE LOCATION and complete the following page.

Complete this page based on your search requirements. Make sure to select your SCHOOL.

Display of the New and Edited Non-Fiction Titles that were added to the book collection from August 2012 – February will populate.

28 inventory Login to Library Solutions and select the REALTIME INVENTORY tab. Select the COLLECTION desired and scan the item. It will populate in the COLLECTIONS TO SCAN column. This will let you also know if an item has already been inventoried.

29 Collection age reports
Click on the REPORTS tab and select COLLECTION ANALYSIS link. Choose COLLECTION AGE REPORT – make sure to select your School and Finish and the following report will display below.

30 Printing bar codes/spine labels & unused bar codes
Click on the REPORTS tab and then select the PUBLIC FOLDERS tab. Click on the CUSTOM OR LIBRARY AUTHORED REPORTS link and then click on BARCODES ADDED IN DATE RANGE – complete the requested information and click submit. Note: Atlanta Public Schools Media Center books arrive to the schools already with a barcode/spine label from their approved vendors. Each school in the district is given a list of barcodes to use for books without a barcode or for books donated to the school.

32 Running custom indexes
You can generate a list of books with a certain characteristic OTHER than by author, title & subject. Choose the REPORTS tab, then click on the ACCELERATED READING ITEMS BY LOCATION AND HOLDINGS CODE(S) link. Select Owning Location and the Select Holding Code(s) then click Finish to populate a list.
