2. Maury River Drinking Quality Information Your drinking water is commonly obtained from the surface of the Maury River. Purified by the water treatment plant located off U.S. Route 60 West. Process is composed of chemical addition, rapid mixing, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, chlorination, corrosion control, and fluoridation.

3. Source Water Assessments According to the Maury Service Authority, the Maury River may be susceptible to contamination. – Hydrologic, hydraulic, and atmospheric conditions promote contamination from land use activities.

4. 2011 Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports There was not a single violation for the 2011 year, which means we were in full compliance!

5. Maury River Alliance Used to be a group made up of Washington and Lee and VMI school body members. Monitored the Maury River to help find hotspots. – Used benthic macro- invertebrates for research because they are good indicators of watershed health.
