Mark 14: Applications For Today Jesus is our Passover Mark 14:1 1 Now after two days was the feast of the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him: 1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ: 12

Mark 14: Applications For Today The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Don’t make bargains with the world which conveniently serve your own selfish desires. Mark 14:10-11 10 And Judas Iscariot, he that was one of the twelve, went away unto the chief priests, that he might deliver him unto them. 11 And they, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him unto them. 13

Mark 14: Applications For Today When it comes to those in the church who trouble the Lord, we would do well to ask, “Is it I”? Mark 14:19 They began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? 14

Mark 14: Applications For Today Without a memorial we tend to forget and not appreciate the sacrifice that was made for us. We must always remember the body and blood sacrifice of Jesus? Mark 14:22-24 22 And as they were eating, he took bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take ye: this is my body. 23 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them: and they all drank of it. 24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. 15

Mark 14: Applications For Today Before making a promise ask yourself, “Should I keep this? Can I keep this? Will I keep this?” Mark 14:31 But Peter spake exceedingly vehemently, If I must die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all. 16

Mark 14: Applications For Today Jesus prayed the prayer of submissive obedience while the disciples were to pray the prayer of vigilance. Both of these prayers are needed in our life today. Mark 14:35-36 35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. 36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; remove this cup from me: howbeit not what I will, but what thou wilt. 17

Mark 14: Applications For Today Watching and praying will keep us from falling into temptation. Mark 14:38 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 18

Mark 14: Applications For Today We do not defend Jesus and his honor by fighting a literal battle. Mark 14:47 But a certain one of them that stood by drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. John 18:10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. 19

Mark 14: Applications For Today Denying Jesus can come by taking slow gradual steps away from him. If we deny the Lord today, he will deny us in the last day. Mark 14:69-71 69 And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. 70 But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art one of them; for thou art a Galilaean. 71 But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak. 20

Mark 14: Applications For Today Don’t make Jesus say something he didn’t say. Mark 14:57-58 57 And there stood up certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, 58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands. 21

Mark 14: Applications For Today Thinking about the words of Jesus in the Bible can cause one to have regret. Mark 14:72 And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. 22
