3 In 2008, contributed about HK$4 – 5 billion. supported the manufacturing, export and other service industries, an integral part of the overall supply chain provides high volume of services for consumer products manufactured in HK and Pearl River Delta Region of China, in particular, toys electrical and electronic goods, textiles, garments and footwear. Through providing assurance to overseas buyers on the quality and safety of products / services, the industry has played an important part in the economic development of HK Role and Contribution of Accredited Organisations

4 The industry has also contributed to the development of HK as a business service centre A credible testing and certification services attracted multi-national companies to set up buying offices and even regional headquarters in HK Given that HK has already achieved a per capita GDP of around 30,000, HK needs to compete on the quality front and to further climb up the value chain
