2. Function of the Muscular System The muscular system enables movement of your body and internal organs. The muscular system enables movement of your body and internal organs. 3. Types of Muscle 1. Involuntary muscle – muscle that is not under your conscious control –Example: breathing and digesting food 2. Voluntary muscle – muscles that are under your conscious control –Example: smiling, turning a page in your book

4. Three Types of Muscle Tissue There are three types of muscle tissue: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac There are three types of muscle tissue: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac 1. Skeletal muscle – are attached to the bones of your skeleton and provide the force that moves your bones –They are voluntary muscles that can get tired easily.
