2 Moral Decision Making  SCV.01 explain the relationship between Scripture and Divine Revelation (CCC §51- 141);  SCV.03 describe the development of oral and written traditions in Scripture using historical, literary and critical approaches;  SCV.04 demonstrate a familiarity with and an ability to retell key biblical narratives that illustrate God’s faithful covenant relationship with a chosen people and the community’s response to this relationship;  SCV.05 express connections between the relationships described in biblical events and their own life experiences.  PFV.04 consider how religious faith is shaped by human experience  PSV.01 use a variety of prayer forms to enrich and express personal and communal spirituality (CCC §2559-2565, 2623-2643);  I will describe and apply the components of a moral decision making model.

3 Moral Decision Making  The natural state of being is loving relationships;  Love calls us to seek and foster the good of others in the context of their concrete situation;  A covenant formalizes a loving relationship between two parties;  THE COVENANT formalizes a loving relationship between God and God’s people;

4 Moral Decision Making  The Ten Commandments best described the Covenant with the Jewish people;  Jesus fulfilled the Covenant, best describing it in the Beatitudes and Golden Rule;  Love is a decision: it requires us to make moral choices that aren’t always easy;  There are ways to make the best choices – we call this discernment.

5 Moral Decision Making  Read (individually or with a partner) Be With Me, pages 76-85.  Answer questions 1-3 on page 77, 1-4 on page 85.  Write a point or to that describes the importance of the following terms found on page 81: see, judge, act, evaluate.  What are the three principles on page 81 that we use to evaluate our decisions?

11 Moral Decision Making  Consider two of the following questions and describe the process of using the moral decision making model. Write your answers for each stage in your notes:  Whether or not to drink at a party;  Whether or not to cheat on a test;  Whether or not to have sex with a boy/girlfriend;  Whether or not to stand up for someone being bullied;  Whether or not to volunteer with a community agency.

12 Moral Decision Making  Think of a moral decision that you had to make: how might your choices have been the same/differed if you used the moral decision making model.  Write a few sentences/paragraph describing your experience.
