3 Introduction Czech-Asian Forum - business, cultural and education exchange Prague / 2 nd March 2009 Goal: presentation of world financial institutions in connection with Euro-Asian financing  EIB (European Investment Bank)  EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development  IIB (International Investment Bank)  CEB and EGAP (Czech Export Bank, Export Guarantee Insurance Corporation)

4 EIB Czech-Asian Forum - business, cultural and education exchange Prague / 2 nd March 2009  an autonomous body within the EU created to finance capital investment projects that fulfill the goals fo the individual policies of the EU  created by Treaty of Rome in 1958  owners are member states of the EU (27)  share of the CZ = 0,764% (1 258 785 500 Eur) from the total capital EIB (164,8 bil.Eur)  within EU (cohesion an convergence, SMEs, energy sector, sustainable environment, etc.)  outside of the EU (about 120 countries: private sector, infrastructure, energy, direct investment, etc.)  EIB loans 2007 in Asia and Latin America: 0,9 bn (from total lending Eur 47.8 billion) Priorities of the EIB

5 EBRD Czech-Asian Forum - business, cultural and education exchange Prague / 2 nd March 2009  established (in Paris in 1991) to assist transformation countries of Central and Eastern European countries and ex- USSR countries in their transition to market economy, and newly in Turkey  EBRD is owned by 63 shareholders (including EIB and EC), CZ member from 1993  Participation of the CR subscribed capital of EBRD is 0.87% (170,66mil.Eur)  CZ is a member of the constituency consisting of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia and the Slovak Republic The constituency share to the total voting power of EBRD=2.5%, CZ share to the total constituency power=35% CZ is the largest constituency shareholder)

6 Czech-Asian Forum - business, cultural and education exchange Prague / 2 nd March 2009 EBRD: Donor activities of CR  EBRD promotes investment of Czech companies in transforming countries of Central Asia and Eastern Europe  CZ is involved in EBRD activities under the Western Balkans Fund (= WBF, focusing on Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia)  additional CZ support to the WBF => „Czech Republic – ODA Technical Cooperation Fund“ ( tied for the Czech companies only ), total CZ contributon = 3 mi. Eur  Purpose of fund: strengthen business connections, gain further international experience and business partners within attractive markets with remarkable export potential Form of aid: technical assistance and consulting

7 IIB Czech-Asian Forum - business, cultural and education exchange Prague / 2 nd March 2009  established by the governments of the member states of Council for Mutual Economic Aid in 1970.  is owned by eight states – Russia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Cuba, Mongolia* and Vietnam*.  core activity is the provision of long ‑ term loans for major projects (usually implemented jointly by several member states).  subscribed capital = 1 300 mil. EUR. Share of the CZ = 9,7 % (125,6 mil. EUR). CZ has one vote in the Bank council (as other states). * ODA eligibility

8 CEB Czech-Asian Forum - business, cultural and education exchange Prague / 2nd March 2009  is a specialised banking institution set up in 1995, directly and indirectly state-owned.  its mission is to provide state support for exports through the provision and financing of export credits and other services connected with exporting.  founded in 1992 is as a state-owned export credit agency, insuring credits connected with exports of goods and services from the Czech Republic against political and commercial risks.  EGAP is now part of the state export support programme: provides insurance services to all exporters of Czech goods irrespective of their size or products. EGAP
