BLUE GOLD

Besides Water quality is getting worse and worse because of pollution In lots of countries there are huge difficulties to get drinkable water Because of climatic conditions there is an irregular distribution of drinking water in the world Drinkable water is very rare

In the world 63% of water falls on 9 countries United States Canada Brazil Columbia Congo Russia India Indonesia China

In the North of the world water is used in huge quantities for Domestic uses industry breeding agricolture

The southern countries of the world use water especially for AGRICOLTURE

To save water there are three possible solutions A better exploitation of this resource A wider and better distribution Trying to avoid water waste by Cutting down its consumption Using distilled sea water Reducing pollution that reaches ground water

In Italy for their personal needs people use on average 270 litres of water a day (without considering the use related to agriculture) as follows: Gardening Laundry Cars Baths/showers Kitchen Personal hygiene

THEN WE DID A SURVEY ON THE USE OF WATER, SUBMITTING A TEST TO A SAMPLE OF 55 FAMILIES: WE WANTED TO KNOW WHICH WAS OUR BEHAVIOUR TO SAVE THIS RESOURCE 1.How many showers do your family have per week? 2. How long is your shower? 3.How is the shower tap in your shower? 4.How many baths do your family usually have per week? 5.Do you switch off water while brushing your teeth? 6.How many toilet flushes do your family do per day? 7.What kind of flush button does your toilet have? 8. How many times per week do your family use the washing machine? 9. What energy class is your washing machine? 10.How many times per week do you wash dishes in your family? 11. How do you usually wash the dishes?

How many showers do your family have every week? 57% of the sample have a shower from 2 to 10 times per week But above all, considering that every 5 minutes when the shower is on, 60 litres of water are consumed, 94% of the sample consume over 120 litres of water for every shower.

Type of shower tap Perhaps it could be useful to boost the use of flow-reducers

The average of baths a family have in a week 72% of the sample have about 5 baths in a week. Considering that to have a bath we use on average 100 litres of water, in total we use about 500 liters of water per week. The use of water in basin is 4 times bigger than the use of water to have shower.

Behavior in brushing teeth The behavior of our families was extremely correct for water-saving

TOILET FLUSH PER DAY 62% of people adopt new water-saving systems to reduce the consumption of water that would be around 100-200 litres per day Type of toilet flush

How many washes per day? We have to keep in mind that each washing uses from 70 to 120 litres of water, so it is important to wash a full load everytime. WASHING MACHINE ENERGY SAVING CLASS or higher ++ or lower From 1 to 3 From 3 to 6 From 6 onwards

How many times a week do you wash dishes? It is important to know that a dishwasher uses from 25 to 40 liters each washing and from an open tap about 12 litres of water go out per minute. Therefore a dishwashing machine can save more water than handwashing. By hand under running water By hand, filling a basin In an energy saving dish- washing machine In a class B or lower dishwashing machine HOW DO YOU WASH YOUR DISHES? From 0 to 7 From 7 to 14
