2 Shortages of Goods  Basic military supplies were scarce in the colonies, which was a problem with the upcoming battles of the American Revolution  Other manufactured goods such as wool were lacking. This created a problem in places such as Valley Forge, where many men were without clothing or even food

4 Militiamen  Many militiamen were highly unreliable and had rudimentary training compared to the world renowned British army  They had to be whipped into shape by tough military leaders like Baron von Steuben

6 African Americans  African Americans fought in the war alongside both the Patriots and the Loyalists  It is said that around 5000 African Americans fought for the American cause.

8 Peoples’ Opinions on War  A majority of people were indifferent about fighting in a war against Britain.  Many people sold goods to Britain because they could pay in gold; speculators forced prices sky-high  A minority of people actually participated in fighting in the revolution and risked their lives to ensure the freedom and independence for everyone
