 My name is Christina Schultz, I am 18 years old and I am currently a senior.  I am adopted and have lived with 5 different families.  I’ve lived in multiple states across the country, and am now back to my roots, I was born close by in Knoxville, TN.

 Elementary school came very easily to me, especially the math  In middle school I began to branch out and try new things such as theatre and competitive teams  By high school I had received many academic awards and achievements.

 It is important for us to have our letters, resumes, and transcripts now so that we have them to use in our future.  Our transcripts will be used from now until the time that we graduate college to help colleges and/or employers see our work ethic and intellectual capabilities.

 University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.  Tampa, FL population: 335,709  Average entry GPA: 3.2  Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities.

 I researched marine biology as my career › Marine biologists have to be very open to change, because they travel and spend a large amount of time in the field. › In order to be successful, I would need to complete many classes in chemistry and biology. › I would also need to have the ability to give up my time to work 18-24 hour days.

 Three things I learned from future budgeting: › You have to save money to have it when you need it. › It’s good to put away money for emergencies. › You need to watch your spending to have money for the important things.

 My letters of recommendation were from Ms. Goan and Mr. Haliburton.  I plan to use these to add to the resume I will use to apply for future jobs and colleges.

 Communication: › Positive communication is important in a career. › An employee needs to know how to speak to their employers.  Enthusiasm/Attitude: › Your attitude affects the people you work with. › A positive attitude makes you more desirable.  Teamwork: › Its important to know how to work in a group setting. › You should be able to work well with others.

 Networking: › The people you meet can help you further your career. › Connections help when job hunting.  Problem-Solving: › The ability to solve problems is helpful in any career. › Critical thinking is an important quality.  Professionalism: › The way you present yourself can be the decision maker for employers. › “Dress for success” applies when job hunting.

StrengthsWeaknesses I am very determined, when I need to get something done, I work at it until it’s complete. I am ADD, so I have a tendency to get distracted easily. I have a mind full of creativity. I’m always coming up with new ways to do things. I get stuck on one task until I complete it. I work and do things to the best of my abilities. I like to do things in order, I hate to skip around.

 Professional Success: › Defined by soft skills. › Achieved by completing goals based on your profession. › Means making the right choices to get to where you want to be in your career.  Personal Success: › You must make goals to work towards. › It all depends on the person, just because you can doesn’t mean you will. › To rise, you must fall and get back up again.

 Five of my future goals: › To complete college with a 3.8 GPA or higher. › To take a Broad Reach program to the Caribbean Islands. › To get a job in an aquarium or a marine research facility. › To move to Florida, and finish my masters degree. › Adopt my first child and buy my first house after graduation.

 What are three qualities that would be most beneficial in marine biology? › People skills: Marine biologist deal with people all over the world. › Generosity: One must be very generous with their time. › Problem-solving skills: A person must be able to solve problems while in the field.
